Mexico could receive higher investments from logistics and courier companies. This is because the COVID-19 pandemic stimulated electronic commerce and the renewed North American trade pact.
The undersecretary of Industry, Commerce and Competitiveness of the Ministry of Economy, Ernesto Acevedo, considered that the Mexico-United States-Canada (T-MEC) Free Trade Agreement faces a “promising future”, amid an acceleration of electronic commerce due to the pandemic.
Unlike the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which had been in force since 1994, the T-MEC offers new spaces, together with regional, environmental, labor and industrial property protection provisions, which will trigger more investment, the official said.
