Mexican manufacturing advances in the face of adversity

Industrial production in Mexico reported an annual increase of 2.5% in February. The rise was mainly due to manufacturing industries, which registered the highest growth (6.9%) in the reported period, figures from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi) stand out.

The positive trend reported by manufacturing industries is also noted when comparing the first two months of 2022, in which industrial production in the manufacturing sector was 5.3 percent.

In the automotive industry, in January of this year, production achieved a value of 8,154 million dollars (mdd), 0.4% higher than that of 2019; while, last February, 8,305 million dollars were obtained, 7% more than what was achieved the year before the pandemic. In addition to these numbers, the Mexican auto parts industry estimates that, by the end of 2022, the number of jobs in 2019 will be exceeded. In that year, companies in this sector reported around 867,000 direct jobs. The goal is to end the year with more than 869,000. This panorama helps companies in Mexico to advance in the recovery of employment.
