The contingency brought with it challenging changes in consumption and one of the biggest challenges was responding efficiently to the accelerated global increase in electronic commerce.
In Mexico alone, online sales reached a value of 316 billion pesos in 2020, a growth of 81% compared to the previous year, which for retailers has meant rethinking their distribution strategies to comply to orders in a timely manner.
Delivery standards are now faster and more complex, putting pressure on distribution centers (DCs) to meet customer demands. At the same time, DC managers are faced with the implementation of new guidelines aimed at improving workplace safety and employee (and consumer) confidence. It is in these places where the magic of logistics happens to cover deliveries from one day to the next.
